Following a cultural festival hosted by Damara women over the first weekend of April 2023, a Senior Legal Aid counsel (legal aid counsel/counsel) tweeted on her personal Twitter account that “For once, the Damara people are doing something beautiful, cultural identity. I love this! This overshadow that violence image of breaking bottles, knife stabbing, insults, no culture identity that I only know of them” (Sic). The tweet was immediately followed by public condemnation and her employer, the Ministry of Justice distanced itself from it.
