On Sunday, 26 February 2023, I came across a disturbing news alert that read “Rundu service station employees ‘beaten’ by boss in exchange for loans.” It was highlighted that an employee was allegedly whipped six times in exchange for N$600.00 and that it is well-known that employees get beaten for loans as the ‘boss’ had
indicated that that would be the way forward. Videos later emerged showing some employees getting whipped by one person, the apparent ‘boss’. Two of these were clearly elderly men. I was deeply disturbed by this incident and, as I always do when . . .
